Family Friendly Lions Clubs

In a highly saturated service industry, we as Lions try to find ways to stand out from the rest, gain new membership, continue to grow, and stay exciting in the eyes of our communities.

Families with dependent children represent a significant proportion of the volunteer population and, in order to attract them, we need to know what they are looking for...

So, how do Lions Clubs appeal to families?

By becoming family-friendly and I will teach you how. I will be going over exactly how to become a family-friendly club, as well as sharing the new projects we’ve been doing that make us stand out in our community (and that have even been recognized by the International Lions Magazine).

Almaguin Highlands Lions Club membership has grown 30% since we formed in 2018, without handing out flyers, or knocking on doors. Our club is mostly millennials and moms who have both a full-time job and kids, but still find time to be members. That’s the thing—Families always find* time to do the things they love, so if they are saying ‘no’ to membership because they ‘don’t have time’, remember, it’s not actually ‘time’ that’s the hurdle, it’s something else...and I will tell you exactly what that is!

Investing in families is investing in our youth, which is investing in future Lions.

If I don’t see you in the seminar, remember: the only way to predict the future, is to create it.

Charter President/Current President Lion Jocelyn Modl,

is a third generation Lion who helped form the Almaguin Highlands Lions Club in 2018.

She has since:

- earned a ‘10-Member Key Award’ for sponsoring the club’s growth by 10 members.

- is a recipient of the ‘Lions Clubs International Certificate of Recognition’ in the area of Service, for her impact as a New Voice.

- honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow.

Jocelyn is dedicated to finding innovating ways to serve, as well as keeping the club exciting and fresh in the eyes of her community.
