We are encouraged to gather stories and to tell them. Why is this important? How does it help?
Everyone has a story or a Voice. How can we use this for growing Membership?

Lion Debbie Cantrell became a member of the Lebanon Host Lions Club in 2004 and was the only lady Lion in the Club when she joined. She soon became the first female President in the club's 75-year history. Debbie went on to become District Governor in 2010-2011, and ended up leading Lions efforts after the horrific Joplin tornado.

During the end of my District Governor Year on May 22, 2011, the Joplin EF5 Tornado struck. This tornado was a mile wide and thirteen miles long. It killed over 160 people and injured over 1,500 individuals. Here I sat as the District Governor with all eyes on me with phone calls coming in asking for decisions to be made, action to be conducted and plain Leadership. Thanks to my training through Lions, I was able to rise to the challenge and begin making decisions and plans for these Lions affected by the disaster. The Lions did around $1 million dollars of clean up work and assistance for Joplin and the surrounding community.

This story is powerful, just knowing what Lions accomplished. Leading these efforts allowed me to discover the power of my own voice, but it wasn't until I visited South Korea that I used my voice to tell my story!

During this seminar, you will find out how for years felt I had no voice, worth or value. and learn how ultimately, Lions Club helped me to "Unleash the Power" of my voice.

The Lebanon Host Lions Club provided me with a place to belong, encouragement, tools, and valuable training. Lions turned me into a leader. In this seminar, you will hear about how I overcame years of feeling worthless, powerless, and voiceless and found the courage to speak and tell my whole story. Through Lions, I also found out how my voice could be used to do the same for others. Join me and discover ways to leverage your voice and your story through Lions service!
